Chris was born in Cardiff and began his musical studies aged 15. He quickly excelled as a percussionist studying with Adrian Evans, and became a member of Cardiff County and the Vale of Glamorgan Youth Orchestra, Brass Band, Wind Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra and the National Youth Brass Band of Wales. As section Principal in 1999, he was awarded the title of most promising player.
In 2003, Chris graduated with a BMus (hons) degree from Trinity College of Music, London where he studied with some of the finest percussionists in the Profession including Kevin Nutty, John Chimes, Dawson Miller and Roger Beaujolais. At this time Chris was introduced to one of his greatest passions within his field; percussion instruments and music from around the World. This particular type of specialist playing led him to working with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, The Royal Shakespeare Company, and the English National Ballet.
Chris is currently a freelance musician in London, he performs in Westend shows such as We Will Rock you, Carousel and Zorro The Musical. He is in great demand in the world of recording sessions and performs regularly on different sessions with pop groups, orchestras and on various film scores. He has recorded on albums such as Hayley Westerna, Jenny-lynn Smith, Paul Westwood, 'Take Flight' - London Cast, Jamie Callum, Bruce Forsyth & the National Youth Jazz Orchestra -Themes from the movies album- Jasmine, Tempest Orchestra - Lucky Star. Chris has also performed extensively on the Welsh Television Network S4C and for Katherine Jenkins TV broadcast from the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.
More recently Chris has launched projects with two very different chamber duos. The first is a Classical duo with Royal Harpist to HRH the Prince of Wales, Claire Jones. For this combination, Chris has produced a wide variety of arrangements ranging from classical standards to traditional Welsh and Irish folksongs for Percussion and Harp. The second is with renowned session bass player Paul Westwood. The music is originally written by Paul who is heavily influenced by different styles from around the World.
Future events include continued performances in the Westend, duo performances with Claire Jones as they represent Wales at the Best of Britain, Excel Centre, London, Fishguard International Music Festival and various other prestigious venues in 2009/2010.
